So you want to start a blog… Congrats! This means you have a voice and you want to share it! What do you do now? What are the first steps and how do you set it up? How do you find people to read your blog? I had all of these questions and more when I decided I wanted a blog. The hubby said, “You’re smart, just go buy a book, watch YouTube videos and figure it out!” I thought, sure! I can do that!! So I bought a book… read it cover to cover, and watched HOURS of YouTube videos… I amassed a TON of knowledge, but none that was very useful. The book was outdated (websites and resources die on the Internet so fast!) and the YouTube videos weren’t technical enough to really be able to create things easily. Plus once I started watching a few different people I realized that everyone does things a little differently, so it started to get confusing! How in the heck was I going to make this happen without spending YEARS trying to figure it out first? Then, I learned about the Socialite Suite’s Blogging Bootcamp.
Ok, so I’d been following the Socialite Suite for awhile, and had joined their premium social media coaching group, Sassy Pants. This group gives daily social media marketing training in a non-spammy, relationship based style that totally fits my business plan. I trust Brenda Ster and Windy Lawson and their direction, so when blogging was offered I wanted to learn more. I clicked the link and learned the price. Woah… It’s OVER a THOUSAND DOLLARS… That is a LOT of money for most people, including me! But I was intrigued enough to ask a few more questions and see if it might be worth it… Here is what I learned.
They help with set up.
Yes, all that technical stuff that you really don’t want to learn, because you just want to write?? They DO IT FOR YOU, and train you how to fix it in the future if it breaks.
They help with design.
You probably have visited other blogs and know what you like and what you don’t like. Blogging Bootcamp will help you set up your design aesthetic and branding.
They help with publishing.
The training recommends tools and resources that they have used themselves for years, so they KNOW they work consistently and easily.
They teach you how to promote your blog.
The old “If you build it, they will come.” does NOT apply to blogs. You have to TELL people that you are there! (I had no idea!!)
They offer a private Facebook group for support.
There is a dedicated private Facebook group for all Bootcampers and a few trainers and previous graduates. A place to actually TALK to other people who are doing the exact same thing you are doing!
So after a lot of research and viewing blogs from their portfolio (a page where Blogging Bootcamp graduates get to post their blogs), I was sold. I could pay this fee to professionals that I know and trust, and they would walk me thru the steps of the entire process. I had to do the work, no question. But they would be there to guide me and help me past any roadblocks along the way.
So… If you’re reading this, Blogging Bootcamp WORKED!! I survived the training, and went LIVE with my very own blog! I’m glad you’re here, and if you have any further questions about Blogging Bootcamp, let’s connect HERE!
*The Socialite Suite’s Blogging Bootcamp is offered a few times per year. It is an 8 week intensive training course designed to help you create and go live with your blog. I’ll update here when the next session becomes available!
